Timothy Watkins Jr. aka The Baron and The Sweet Soca Man, hails from La Romaine, San Fernando. He started his career singing Baptist spirituals at the church his parents led, Mt. Zion Spiritual Baptist Church. He then began singing at community events and got his big break when he won Scouting for Talent in the 1970s. From there he made his debut in 1971 at the Original Young Brigade Calypso tent and has become a household name with his delightful melodies and silky voice. He has produced hit after hit in the Calypso, Soca and Parang genres including: Severe Licking, Feeling It, Doh Rock It So, Poom Poom Shorts, The Jammer, He Lick She, Somebody, Sweet Soca Man, Spanish Woman, Melosian Rhapsody and Rajha Rani.
