About

At just 28 years of age Isaac Blackman is already a veteran with a staggering 21 years as a performing artiste. Even with a history that spans two decades, this singer/songwriter/producer and multi-instrumentalist carries in him the fire of a brand new artiste and the belief that he can truly change the world. His new project 'World Changers' is a pulsating blend of east indian and african rhythms known as Jamoo created by his father the late great Ras Shorty I (aka Lord Shorty). As the youngest son of one of Trinidad and Tobago’s greatest performing artistes Isaac was immersed in a world of music and witnessed his father not only create the wildly popular genre ‘soca’ but also it’s younger, rootsier sibling Jamoo (Jehovah’s Music), which Isaac and his older brothers and sisters...

As the youngest son of one of Trinidad and Tobago’s greatest performing artistes Isaac was immersed in a world of music and witnessed his father not only create the wildly popular genre ‘soca’ but also it’s younger, rootsier sibling Jamoo (Jehovah’s Music), which Isaac and his older brothers and sisters continue to pioneer.

Isaac spent his teenage years performing with the family band ‘The Love Circle’ as they belted out hits like ‘We Cyar Rest’ and the anti drug anthem ‘Watch Out My Children’. Shortly after his father’s death, Isaac moved from drummer to lead singer while honing his skills as a producer. His first album in ‘In your Eyes’ alongside the family band garnering him his first hit ‘Always Remember’.

In 2006 the young frontman established himself as a force to be reckoned within the Caribbean music industry via the massive hit ‘To The ceiling’ from the album of the same name. The song not only became the largest song of that year in Trinidad and Tobago, but spread up the Caribbean and throughout North America, South America, Europe, Japan and Africa making him an in demand touring artiste and a sought after producer.

The last five years have seen him take his energetic and inspirational live showcase of Jehovah’s Music to audiences as large as 50,000 touring Kenya, Uganda, Sweden Amsterdam, Malaysia, Suriname, The United States and Canada. Blackman's tireless work ethic has built him a long list of production and songwriting credits which includes international reggae band Christafari, Soca artiste Maximus Dan, Sherwin Gardner, Russell Leonce, Jadee, Rizon. All this while never taking his eyes off his overall goal – to make his next album his most powerful yet.

Isaac’s broad taste in music affects the World Changers soundscape, drizzling it with influences of hiphop, techno, rock and reggae while keeping true to the core elements of the music created by his father. Isaac’s gritty soaring vocals empowers the listener with messages of self improvement, social change and love for God ultimately resulting in love for your fellow man. This 14 track album sees Isaac mature not only as a producer but also as a songwriter resulting in one of the most complete and musically sound albums to emerge from Trinidad and Tobago in recent years.

If the albums universal sound is anything to go by, the name World Changers will be more than just a title but a definition of the role that this son of soca will play within the music industry and by extension the hearts of music lovers worldwide and give them exactly he wants… Change…
