Unique and infectious sound - Gyazette's fusion of various styles of music transcends. Still relatively new to the Trinidad & Tobago music scene, the band Gyazette was formed when a secondary school visual arts teacher by the name of Nickolai Salcedo decided to teach himself to play the guitar, in an attempt to use an alternative method to reach his visual arts students. About

After a year spent mastering his craft, Salcedo was keen to take his music to another level and the first step towards this was enlisting the services and support of a few fellow musicians to form his own band now known as – GYAZETTE.

Following a few changes to the band's membership over the years, Gyazette now consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Nickolai Salcedo and the following: Jonathan Otway (drummer), Tanika Davis (percussionist), Corey Wallace (bassist), Shirleena Zola Grandsoult (vocalist) and Mandisa Granderson (vocalist). Together the six with their passionate and energetic spirit, which impulsively draws any listener and audience, form one of the most dynamic and vibrant live bands on the Trinidad & Tobago music circuit.

Gyazette's sound at its very core is an invigorating style of fusion music. It incorporates genres such as Calypso, Funk, Reggae, Hip Hop and Rock blended with Eastern Influences. Their music without a doubt surpasses the simple traditional genre categorizations and is arguably a revolutionary genre of its own yet to be classified. This music is simply described by Salcedo as a “fresh kaiso sound with a contemporary edge."

The band's repertoire of songs consists of poignant lyrics that are a conscious reflection of the issues affecting the man on the street, and the struggle of human interaction in this 'urban jungle'. In the 3 years that Gyazette has been touring the local music circuit, they have built a loyal fan base of music enthusiasts who are inescapably drawn to their dynamic and pore-raising performances.

Gyazette without a doubt consists of a group of extremely talented personalities, each contributing their own musical flavour to this authentic Trinbagonian 'musical calalloo'. The band continues to rise to new challenges as they have their sights set on breaking into the international market. They are currently working on their first album entitled “CAPTAIN” which will be a collection of live music capturing the essence of what Gyazette the band exemplifies.
