Woodford Square

About Woodford Square

Located in the heart of bustling Port-of-Spain, Woodford Square is famous for political rallies starting with many public lectures from Dr. Eric Williams. Dubbed, the University of Woodford Square, there is a spot near the eastern gate entry known as The Port of Spain Speakers Corner. It is in the heart of a political zone as it is bounded by the country's seat of Parliament, the Red House and also the seat of the Supreme Court, the Hall of Justice as well as City Hall.

The square consists of green lawns, trees, benches and a late Victorian fountain and bandstand. Formerly Brunswick Square it was renamed by its namesake in the 19th century by the British Govenor Ralph Woodford.
