UWI After School Care Centre (ASCC)

Interactions between staff and children should be warm and friendly and create an inclusive environment for all children and families.

The Centre should provide regular learning and training opportunities for staff
The programme should reflect the Centre’s Goals and Philosophies and accommodate children’s daily routines, development needs with an understanding of the child’s need for play.

The ASCC Mission Statement:
To provide campus-based after school child care of exceptionally high quality for the community of the UWI St. Augustine Campus. Through a child-centred approach and active parent involvement, the ASCC strives to be responsive to the diverse needs of children and their families.
The ASCC - Values:

The ASCC values developing partnerships with parents/families through open communication, professionalism, teamwork and co-operation.

The ASCC is overseen by a Management Committee comprising parents and campus representatives. The ASCC can accommodate 48 children between the ages of 5 and 12. The children will be grouped into age appropriate ranges to ensure that each child receives the appropriate attention and care.

Your child will be encouraged to participate in a range of age-appropriate activities.

Also, while at the ASCC, your children can play with games, build puzzles, read books as well as have access to videos, computer games and sports equipment. At the ASCC our mandate is to emphasise fun and encourage thinking outside of the box. Your child’s ideas will always be taken into consideration as we work to build and enforce a warm, caring and all-inclusive atmosphere.

Priority is given to children of staff and students of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, then to staff and students of other campuses and affiliated institutions-The Hugh Wooding Law School and Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business.
