The National Archives is committed to the acquisition and preservation of records of enduring administrattive, legal,cultural and intrinsic value to Trinidad and Tobago.

The National Archives is responsible for acquiring, preserving and providing public access to the documentary heritage of the nation (in all formats);and the management of all government records throughout the public service

THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

. Acquires public and private records of enduring value regardless of format.
. Cares for and preserve records acquired according to international archival standards.
. Provides guidance and technical advice on the management of public records.
. Provides secondary storage facilities to Government Ministries, Agencies and Departments for semi-active records.
. Provides access to information from our holdings through our Reference Facility.
. Provides advice on the preservation of records, including disaster recovery.

The National Archives is a repository for records dating from the 18th century to present. These include: Royal Gazette & Trinidad and Tobago Gazette, Land Ownership Records, Council Papers, Blue Books, Indian Indentureship,Hansard Reports, Census Reports, Laws of Trinidad and Tobago, Records of the Colonial Secretary's Office, Newspaper Collection, Special collections.
