Though seemingly remote, this area has always attracted European settlers and was responsible for the start of the long, bloody battle for possession of Tobago, mainly because of the area's deep-water harbour, which facilitated the anchoring of large ships. Located on the north eastern coast of Tobago in the scenic village of Charlotteville, this large bay includes smaller bays such as Hermitage Bay, Cambleton Bay, Lover's Bay, Waterfall Bay, Dead Man's Bay and Pirate's Bay. There is a THA Beach Facility with bathrooms and changing rooms and a Fishing Village. The area is popular for fishing, snorkelling, diving, swimming and bird watching.
