About Harvard Sports Club

The Harvard Club was founded in 1943 as a cricket club.Since then, the Club has also started playing competitively in other sports such as football (since 1948), rugby and ladies’ hockey; and has also played for varying periods in men’s hockey, basketball and table-tennis.In addition the Club currently conducts Clinics for young citizens in cricket (since 1965), football (since 1976), rugby and tennis; and has formerly also conducted hockey and basketball clinics.

The Club has also made its contribution to the cultural life of the society. It was the first institution to initiate an in-house calypso competition (in 1966); as well as the first Club to organise a steelband competition (in 1983), and later to put together an in-house steelband. Furthermore, since 1964 the Club has been hosting annual parties for lesser privileged children.
