City Gate

The main transportation hub on the island for buses and maxi taxis, City Gate houses many fast food chain restaurants and has thousands of visitors each day. The building is the former Trinidad Government Railway Headquarters in South Quay. Street performances by local artistes and groups are common in this space.

City Gate is also the headquarters for the Public Transport Service Corporation or PTSC, the state owned bus service. They host the famous "Know Your Country Tours" that begin at City Gate, end at a given destination and have historical & cultural information for landmarks and places of importance on the route. Popular destinations include Mayaro, the Pitch Lake, Caroni Bird Sanctuary, Wildfowl Trust, Harry's Water Park, Fun Splash Water Park and Matura during the Leatherback Turtle Nesting Season.
