Café Mariposa is an open-air restaurant, surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful flowers. Our unique cuisine and ambience has attracted local and international visitors who are now regulars at the Café.

Savour the tantalizing taste of Bollitos, hallacas, sopa de auyama and chayota Bianca, all "sweet-hand" crafted slow food with all our chutneys and salsas made on site along with our home-made tortillas and ground provision salad. Juices are made from fresh, in season fruit and our coffee and cocoa are also all homegrown
with a cocoa ice cream dessert to die for.

We specialize in Spanish creole cooking, with tortillas being a crowd favourite. We cater for vegetarian and gluten-free diets and use many vegetables and herbs grown organically on our nearby farm, which also features a large tilapia pond. Our cooking style is not only local, but heavily influenced by our indigenous ancestors and our Latin and Caribbean cuisine.

Café Mariposa opened in 2001 as a coffee shop and quickly evolved into a full fledged restaurant that has attracted world wide attention with the likes of top chefs and magazines coming to savour the authentic cuisine.

Café Mariposa has been featured in many international publications for its outstanding Spanish/Creole food, including Bon Appétit, Gourmet and Island Life. It has also been featured in many local newspapers over the years. Many international chefs have also visited, including Marcus Samuelson of the Food Network and Borja Blasquez who filmed an episode of his culinary show for Spanish television. Local television chef, Wendy Rahamut also filmed three episodes of “Caribbean Flavours” in September 2011. Many international chefs who work in Trinidad’s hospitality industry have also come to delight their taste buds at Mariposa. Café Mariposa is also listed in the “Rough Guide to Trinidad and Tobago”.

Our guest book features many famous names from all over the world who have enjoyed a gastronomic experience at the Café Mariposa.
