The Cybercrime awareness course is an intensive, hands-on programme which introduces participants to the field of Cybercrime and Cyberterrorism. This course commences by examining the evolution of cybercrimes; their trends and global cost. It highlights some counter measures and recommended security policies to prevent such crimes. In addition it highlights international governments’ responses to cybercrime. It describes Cyberterrorism and terrorists’ use of technologies to achieve their objectives.

E-commerce is growing in Trinidad and Tobago where many purchases are being made online via credit cards and other electronic methods. As such, due to the rapid increase of cybercrimes worldwide; education and training in cybercrime awareness is imperative and should be continuous to protect citizens from becoming victims of cybercrimes. Furthermore, the
government of Trinidad and Tobago has taken significant steps with regard to Cyber Security.

It is against this backdrop and in keeping with the government of Trinidad and Tobago’s mandate re Cyber Security that this course was developed and introduced to Nationals of Trinidad and Tobago.
