An Evening of Tea and Readings at Paper Based - 25.8.18

Details

Hosted by Paper Based Bookshop

Dear book lovers and friends of Paper Based,

The long vacation is an ideal time for your young ones to be reading -- you should also treat yourself to some wonderful books! You'll find them in abundance at our upcoming Evening of Tea and Readings, to be held at the Hotel Normandie on Saturday, August 25th 2018 at 4:30 pm.

Five fantastic readers will share their work with you:

Fresh from his 2018 Commonwealth Short Story Prize win, Kevin Jared Hosein joins us to share from his body of writing, including The Repenters, The Beast of Kukuyo, and the celebrated story of the hour, "Passage".

Debbie Jacob's freshly-launched new non-fiction book, Making Waves: How the West Indies Shaped the United States is already a hotly-requested title at the shop. She'll be joining us to share selections from this unique publication.

Her launch at the 2018 NGC Bocas Lit Fest was standing-room only! Hear Savi Naipaul Akal read from The Naipauls of Nepaul Street, recently described as an "industriously detailed memoir" by The Spectator.

Lisa Allen-Agostini joins us to share scenes from her newly-published young adult novella, Home Home, which has been called "realistic and perceptive" by Trinidadian-Canadian writer, Rabindranath Maharaj.

Rounding out our quintet is Harold Moylan, who will read from A Fiery Irishman: The Life and Career of Edward Kyran Moylan 1844-1893, a book sure to capture the interest of history aficionados and biography buffs.

Please find attached our official event flyer; feel free to share it with your colleagues, friends and mailing lists. We can't wait to see you on the 25th for this exciting gathering of literary voices!

Tickets are priced at $120 and include the cost of refreshments.
Tickets must be purchased before the event; there will be no payments at the door.
Tickets available at Paper Based Bookshop, 10 am - 6 pm Mon - Fri, 10 am - 4 pm Sat, 625-3197 / 734-6091.
