Ortinola Estate

In the lush green Maracas Valley, set amidst the mountainous rainforest of Trinidad’s Northern Range, lies Ortinola Estate.

Created by colonial land grant in the late 18th Century, when the Spanish Town of St Joseph was still the Island’s capital, it later became, during the cocoa boom of the 1890’s, a thriving and prosperous cocoa estate operated by world renowned confectioners Cadbury Bros. of Birmingham, England.

The plantation Great House still stands majestically on 9 acres of undulating grassland at the entrance to this magnificent estate.
Lovingly restored after decades of neglect and abandonment, the Great House combines colonial charm with modern amenities making Ortinola the perfect location for hosting retreats, conferences, seminars, celebrations, family reunions and garden weddings.

The El Tucuche and Piedra Blanca conference rooms (named for the immortelle-sprinkled mountains which protect the estate) are air conditioned and outfitted with state-of-the-art audio/ visual equipment.

The sound of birds, the tropical breezes and the rhythm of the Acono River that runs through the estate punctuate the 365 Acres of poetic calm that surrounds the Great House.

Experience it all from the comfort of the balustraded verandah or take a leisurely stroll as you explore the estate grounds. The diversity of the estate’s flora and fauna touched by nature’s perfumed breath are sure to restore calm to the soul and a sense of purpose and well being.
