UWI Guitar Ensemble Concert - We've Got Swing

Come and hear them boastfully proclaim this rapturous exposition through the musical inventions of Britten, Shostakovich, and Duke Ellington. And watch in wonderment as they unapologetically lay claim to esoteric Platonic wisdom and shamelessly brag: “We’ve Got Swing”.

Swing is our human purpose, our intellectual “Elysian Fields”, our enlightenment.
It is the Platonic terminus that is always “a hair” beyond an arms length.
It is unattainable by those who bask in the mediocre, the ordinary, the superficial, and the fatuous.
It is on a perennial search for what is true.
It is always willing to revise its position when new knowledge is acquired, or when a former idea is seen to be fallacious.
It is never settling.
It is never never wallowing.
It is our drive, our conviction.
It is never apologetic for seeking the sublime.
It is never content with triumph, seeing it only as a pit stop.
It is the only goal that matters.
It is rapturous celebration; for when we work hard, we play hard.
