Trinidad and Tobago will experience the power of Ms Tia Fuller saxophonist, composer and educator at the NAPA auditorium in the company of Douglas Redon (acoustic bass), Eddie Clarion (guitar), Sean Thomas (drums and double seconds) and Vaughnette Bigford (vocals). From the thrilling performances at its inaugural event in 2013, Jazz Alliance of Trinidad and Tobago, the main coordinator of this prestigious event, has captured the interest of Ms. Fuller whose Tia has a musical pedigree that shines light on the jazz world. Having graduated Magna Cum Laude and Summa Cum Laude with academic degrees in music (Spelman College) and Jazz Pedagogy and Performance (University of Colorado), this young musician has claimed her space in the art world as a performer, composer, and teacher. Miss Fuller created musical history as part of the all-female band that toured with Beyonce and is a feature soloist on the composition “Me, Myself and I” on the DVD, “Beyonce Experience”. Her experience as a member of Grammy Winning R&B star Beyonce’s band, is but one aspect of the complexity of Tia’s musical contribution: She has also performed with the Ralph Peterson Septet, the T.S. Monk Septet, and the Nancy Wilson Orchestra among others and has recorded three CDs with her quartet. With as much passion for performance as for jazz education, Tia has put her training in jazz pedagogy to service. As a devoted educator, she has lectured and taught ensembles and masterclasses at some of the most respected educational institutions such as Stanford University’s “Jazz Workshop”, the “Children in Jazz” Series at Purchase College and at the Panama Jazz Festival. Early bird tickets are priced at $200 until June 15 and are available at LiveArt Bistro, the San Fernando Yacht Club or by calling 625-7123, 689-4298 or 687-2093.
