The Maritime Ortoire River Race 2013

There are 2 major races - the long course of 21Km for the experienced paddler and the short course of 7Km for the intermediate. (7Km is approximately from Williams Bay to and around Five Islands and back). This event is hosted by the Trinidad & Tobago Canoe/Kayak Federation and the Trinidad Kayak Club and sponsored by the Maritime Financial Group. Registration fee before the day of the event - $100 per adult (18+ years), $50 per youth (17- years); on the same day, $130 and $70 respectively. Boat rental fees: Surf skis/sit insides - $60, Sit-on-tops - $40. (Boats will be transported to the race site) All participants will receive a T-shirt complimentary the Maritime Financial Group. Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of both races and medals for various categories (including sea kayaks, sit-on-tops, veterans, female and more). The winner of the long course will receive two tickets to Barbados, and the winner of the short course will receive two tickets to Tobago courtesy of Superl Travel Service Ltd, 86 Duke Street, in Port of Spain. This year, the Ortoire Village Council will incorporate their Bathtub derby (two courses), as well as kite flying and fishing competitions, with our event. There will also be BBQ, fish broth, corn soup and more on sale. Start time is at 11am.
