SACO TTYP Presents Blessed With The Sound Of Music!

The St. Augustine Chamber Orchestra (SACO) presents: Blessed With The Sound Of Music!


Inspired and energized by history making performance with internationally acclaimed American concert Violinist Andrew Sords!, featured by the July issue of the world famous 'Strings Magazine!', and having recently returned from a sold out concert tour in Belize!, the Trinidad and Tobago Youth Philharmonic (TTYP), will host 'Blessed with the Sound of Music,' at Queen's Hall, St. Ann's, P.O.S. on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd August 2015 at 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. respectively. The concerts will be the culmination of SACO &TTYP's 11th annual three week music workshop where approximately 200 string, wind, brass, and percussion students ages 4-25 have had 90 contact hours supervised by a team of Venezuelan tutors of FESNOJIV(El Sistema of Venezuela), led by Mr. Heemath Jahoor, and Music Director of TTYP, Mr. Kenneth Listhrop.


The repertoire for the first part will include works by J.S Bach (1685-1750) and W.A Mozart (1756-1791). Principal Cellist and Assistant Music Director Miss Tracell Frederick will perform Kol Nidrei (Oh! Day of God) Adagio for Violincello and Orchestra by Max Bruch (1838-1920), and for the first time the world famous Capriccio Italien Op.45 by Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893), will be performed by our own TTYP!


The second part promises to be equally entertaining with excerpts from some of Broadway's famous musicals including, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Jesus Christ Superstar, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, and Disney's Frozen.


SACO/TTYP's school and community programmes continue to embrace students from the Arima West Government Primary School, The University School, St. Augustine, St. George's College, Barataria, the Bishop Anstey High School East/Trinity College, Trincity and Atwell's Educational Institute, Tacarigua. Additionally, SACO/TTYP continues to recognize and applaud the kind generosity of the corporate community namely National Gas Company of Trinidad & Tobago Limited, and ATLANTIC.


SACO/TTYP premier music education programme engages approximately 200 students and growing (ages mainly 4-25), the largest in the Caribbean, and the only youth symphony orchestra in Trinidad and Tobago.

The admission fee is only $200. Children: 4 - 12 years - $100. Tickets are available at the music workshop at Bishop Anstey High School East/Trinity College East, Trincity - 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Queen's Hall Box Office beginning 10th August: Monday – Saturday: 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
