"Rejoice and be Glad!" - Tickets are on sale NOW! TICKET HOTLINE-: 3386024 In this celebratory year of our country’s history, The Lydians will be presenting "Rejoice and be Glad" a musical selection of religious and secular Christmas songs. This will be enhanced by well-loved local Christmas traditions, including dance, African and Indian drums, costumes and set design. A semi-chorus will sing the vocally challenging Baroque Gloria in D major by Antonio Vivaldi. Other featured works include the stirring an d emphatic "Hodie", as well as "The Shepherd's Farewell", Hector Berlioz's hauntingly beautiful chorus from 'L'Enfance du Christ'. Apart from the choir and steel, expect to be thrilled by seasoned Lydian soloists and special guest performers, among whom are a long-standing friend, Maestro Jesus Acosta Ruiz and Geremias Nicolás Mai Marcano, a young oboe player from the celebrated Venezuelan Youth Orchestra, virtuoso pannist, Len "Boogsie" Sharpe, and Phase II and the Bishop Anstey High School choir. The finale will be the ultimate Lydian signature piece, the "Halleluiah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah accompanied by the Lydian Steel, African and Tassa drums. This year, this piece will be performed as a tribute in memory of Krishna Soogrim-ram who used his gifts as a tassa percussionist to collaborate with Pat Bishop in transforming this celebrated European composition into a uniquely Trinidadian cultural statement. ------------------------------------------------------ The Lydian Singers and Steel Christmas 2012: "Rejoice and be Glad” ****Dates and times**** - Thursday 13 December (Private performance.
