The Department of Creative and Festival Arts, UWI St. Augustine will host More than Just Jazz, one of its annual student concerts on Saturday 26th April 2019, at 6:30pm, at the Daaga Auditorium, UWI, St. Augustine. This year's concert is specially themed "Expression & Appreciation"
Throughout history, the genre of jazz has evolved into a myriad of styles. It can be said that each sub-genre of jazz that was created, was born out of a need for expression. This semester, the UAJE shows its appreciation for these various expressions of jazz with an emphasis on our local expressions, “Calypso Jazz” and “Pan Jazz”. Expression & Appreciation will also highlight the compositions of renowned pannist, arranger and jazz soloist Mr. Akinola Sennon, as well as compositions by the ensemble's director Mr. Khion "Khadence" De Las.
Tickets are priced at $60 general admission and $40 for students and children under 12 and are available at the DCFA, Gordon Street, St. Augustine or at the door on the day of the show.
