Luise Kimme: The Last Works from the Studio

On Friday 19th April 2013, Luise Kimme succumbed to cancer. This exhibition opening on the first anniversary of her passing, celebrates her life and her work. We were fortunate enough to be given access to her studio in Tobago to select works for this exhibition. Up until just a few weeks before her death, Luise was still hard at work in her studio carving wood, some medium sized face reliefs (her last 2 included in this show) and some life sized sculptures. Unfinished reliefs - 2 of these are included, of particular academic interest with Luise's black and blue chalk guideline markings. A few drawings, a selection of medium and life sized bronzes, and her small bronze "statues" (some painted), modelled in her beloved Cuba - make up a testimony to her oeuvre. Previews are available on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th April 2014 from 2pm to 6pm and also on Saturday 19th April 2014 from 10am to 2pm.
