European Film Festival 2015: The Hell Of 63

It's all systems go as the 19th edition of the European Film Festival (EFF) kicks off its cinematic journey through Europe at MovieTowne Port of Spain and Tobago, from 06–19 May and 13–19 May, respectively. The lineup of films is rich and varied, ranging from hard-hitting dramas and action thrillers to laugh-out-loud comedies and children-friendly animations, with award-winning titles by some of Europe's top filmmakers. Two weeks of 28 great films from Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom! Join us for tattooed country singers, dirty cops and sheep on a mission!

The European Film Festival (EFF) began in 1996. It showcases films from European and is organised by the European Union (EU) Member States with diplomatic missions in Trinidad and Tobago — France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom — and the EU Delegation. For the fourth consecutive year, the EFF is being presented in association with the trinidad+tobago film festival (ttff). Founded in 2006, the ttff is an annual celebration of films from and about Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean and its diaspora. The Festival also screens films curated from contemporary world cinema.

The Hell Of 63

When conditions are right, an infamous ice-skating race is held in the north of the Netherlands. The 200km race must be completed by midnight and everyone who finishes receives a medal. This film is based on the facts of a fateful day in 1963 when, due to plunging temperatures and rough terrain, thousands of skaters suffered frostbite and shocking injuries. Only a small number would cross the finish line, but for those who did, it was to be a life-changing event.
