COCO presents their Seventh Annual Dance Festival and Fourth Annual Dance Awards!
The Contemporary Choreographer's Collective, better known as COCO, will present their seventh annual season of dance at Queen's Hall from Thursday, Friday 30th October to Sunday, 1st November 2015.
The main aim of the festival is to provide talented local and regional choreographers with a platform for experimental and cutting edge choreography. International guest choreographers are also welcomed to share the stage with their experimental pieces. COCO Dance Festival an open space for dance expression and the only ticket in town where one can see the very best of modern contemporary dance for TT$100.
The first night of the festival will also feature a short awards ceremony, honouring a few of the many individuals and institutions which have supported the development of local dance in different ways.
The following choreographers will present new and recent work at the 2015 COCO Dance Festival: Bridgette Wilson, Afiya Huggins, Kinesha Charleau, Jacob Cino, Sade Chance, La Toya Jasper and Jillene Forde.
Also to be featured will be the energetic and highly experimental dance duet of Candelaria Antelo and Arthur Bernard Bazin who have been working together since 2010. In 2013 they started the company HURyCAN and presented "Je te haime", which was awarded by the 27th Feria Internacional de Huesca as the best dance performance.
Through the "COCO in the Community" project, the Festival will partner with the Best Village programme and two groups from the Best Village circuit, Eh Bien Oui Don Don and the Jerningham Junction Performers will also perform.
The work of two of the COCO founders Sonja Dumas and Nicole Wesley will also be showcased.
