Chacachacare Lighthouse Tour

Chacachacare Island Adventure! Join us as we head DDI (Down D Islands) for a unique Adventure. We explore Chacachare Island on Sunday 17th November 2013. We leave from Island Property Owners Association at 9:30am and head to Chacachacare, the largest and most westerly of the Bocas Islands. The island lies between Trinidad and Venezuela and at different intervals in history the Island served as a Leper Colony, a whaling station, a cotton plantation and also housed approximately 1000 US soldiers during the 2nd World War. The vessel passes many historical landmarks and other islands along the way including Carrera Island which is used as a prison. Our Journey begins between Perriquier and La Tinta Bay as we head to the Chacachacare Lighthouse. The route climbs gradually on a paved incline northwards to the highest point of the island. Atop the Island awards the most picturesque view of the Bocas Isles, as well as Trinidad and Venezuela can be seen from the lighthouse. From the lighthouse we head over to the abandoned side of the Island where we explore the various forgotten buildings. Find out for yourself whether or not that side of the Island is really haunted! From there we head to the scenic La Tinta Bay where we relax and reminisce on the day's activities. Trail walk to lighthouse is approximately 45 minutes long and approximately 40 minutes to mental house and other buildings. Escape the Ordinary with Adventure Seekers.
