A suggestion was made then to market the country’s leading arts and culture event, the Crop Festival, on the Internet. The quick response from the erstwhile CEO was nothing short of overwhelming – “This Internet thing is overrated,” was his response. Unfortunately, the Caribbean as a whole is not known for early adoption of technology. There is always a sense of playing catch up even when the solutions are readily available. We have experienced this with automated banking, ecommerce, WIFI and now with social media marketing. Don’t let us make the same mistake that was made in the 1990s when we refused to get on board with these transformative technologies. Social media is not overrated.
