Act It Out Theatre Festival: I Am Transformed

A series of (5) different shows staged over (5) consecutive days. The newest addition to the annual Trinidad and Tobago Entertainment and Cultural Calendar. It is a fun-filled and engaging festival for local and regional audiences. A must-visit festival for the whole family. The Annual Act It Out Theatre Festival will enable patrons to truly experience Trinidad and Tobago’s culture through the medium of theatre and the arts and will appeal to audiences from all walks of life and ethnic backgrounds. DAY 1: Wednesday July 31st 2013 - I Am Transformed – The Concert - Playing at 7:30 p.m. I Am Transformed – The Concert showcases the talent of our Transformation Through Theatre Programme students. This show portrays the students performing dances, skits, singing as a choir, a fashion show, and in fun videos. Guest artistes for the night are Maximus Dan and Neval Chatelal. DAY 2 : Thursday August 1st 2013 - Show Begins at 3pm. The first half of this show would feature a small play, a dance and poem by over one hundred children in our Theatre For Tots program followed by an intermission and two children shows performed by S.E.P Theatre Troupe. DAY 2 : Thursday August 1st 2013 - King Hungry Belly and the Palace Pelau – Kid’s Show - Playing at 4:00 p.m. Pelau is a dish that is indigenous to the Caribbean and this show tells the real story of how King Hungry Belly on his fortieth birthday created havoc for some of his subjects. The story also tells of the secret ingredient in every good pelau. Unfortunately due to a royal decree passed some years ago if you want to find out the secret, you must see King Hungry Belly and the Palace Pelau. DAY 2 : Thursday August 1st 2013 - David and Goliath - Kid‘s Show - Playing at 5:00 p.m. The epic battle rages on in the timeless story of overcoming obstacles. A young man’s giant faith in God silences the greatest threat ever to come against the people of Israel. The story is retold in such a way that it transports the audience thousands of years ago, coupled with the excitement of today’s modern day action-movies. Never have you seen David vs. Goliath like this; guaranteed to have you at the edge of your seat and begging for more. DAY 3 : Friday August 2nd 2013 - Romero and Julie - Playing at 8:30 p.m. Romero and Julie is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic Romeo and Juliet. Set in Trinidad and Tobago, the play is a musical tribute to the Mighty sparrow and tells the story of the warring Montanos and Capildeos and how hate and prejudice can be overcome by love. Featuring Indian and African dance and drumming, traditional mas, calypso, soca, chutney, moko jumbies and the acting debut of Neshan the “Hitman Prabu” Errol Singh (of the Kucharsingh family) and Chris Garcia. DAY 4 : Saturday August 3rd 2013 - Mango Alley - Playing at 8:30 p.m. Mango Alley is the story of a village losing its traditions and the actions of the village folk to hold on to that value system. A play of rural Trinidad that showcases many aspects of Trinidad and Tobago’s folk traditions including folk dance, folk songs, stick fighting and “ole time” calypso. DAY 5 : Sunday August 4th 2013 - For Better or For Worse - Playing at 6:30p.m. For Better or For Worse is a love story that shows life on both sides of the fence and that married or single, we all have our crosses to bear. Married couple, Jason and Deborah’s marriage is on the brink of divorce and the story explores the message that “Love isn’t just a feeling but it’s a choice as well” and when the going gets rough, the tough remain put and work it out.
