The League & The Lime

Written by Denzil Williams and Directed by Keegan Miguel, 'The League & The Lime', will be the first musical production by the newly born Theatre Arts company Artspire. ARTSPIRE is a production company committed to using the Arts as a medium to enlighten, inspire and to educate a multi-cultured audience in an attempt to transform lives positively. We are an organization that recognizes the various issues facing youth in today’s society and as such, have found an alternative way to effect change and intervene in the lives of youth and young adults. Our team consists of persons grounded in spirituality and morality, trained in leadership, ministry, the arts and culture. In 2010, the Catholic Student’s Movement of the University of the West Indies held its annual Lenten Production entitled The League and the Lime. Set in the early 1980s in the Coalmine village, The League and the Lime tell the story of how love and relationship can be drastically compromised by selfishness. This script was penned by C.S.M’s then President Denzil Williams (B.Sc.) and directed and composed by its then Social Events Coordinator Keegan Miguel (B.A). The play was such a success that there was a call from many for it to be staged again. This inspiration was the driving force behind forming the partnership company, ARTSPIRE.
