Road to Blanchisseuse
an exhibition of dreamscapes by Peter Sheppard
(Self Managed exhibit)
(25th anniversary with 101 Art Gallery)
Peter Sheppard's latest exhibition opens on Friday 20th September 2019 at the 101 Art Gallery on Woodford Street, twenty five years after his debut show with the gallery at its previous Tragarete Road location.
“As a child, my Father would take us on these long-winded, wondrous drives all over beautiful Trinidad and Tobago. It’s natural beauty and it’s charismatic rural charm was burned into my memory. There my roots were firmly planted and my soul co-exists. The Northern Mountain Range is a part of my DNA and together with all the richness of our multi-ethnic and diverse culture, there is no end to the inspiration it breathes into my mind.
The Road to Blanchisseuse seems to be that vein. Stone pillars mark both beginnings of this journey. On Saddle Road in Maraval and on the highway entering Wallerfield in Arima. The route, brings us all from our homes to the cleansing waters that flow through Blanchisseuse to the Caribbean Sea. What a treasure we have and must care for, do not let the generations to come, lose her glory. “ - Peter Sheppard
"Road to Blanchisseuse" is the inspiration for the twenty-five acrylic landscapes which will be presented in a variety of sizes ranging from 3" x 4" in his miniature style for which he is best known to larger scale canvases.
