It is with great pleasure that we extend this invitation to share this historic Juncture as we open "The National Cocoa and Chocolate Museum".


Join us this year as we celebrate our annual Cocoa and Chocolate festival with the; Opening of the National Cocoa and Chocolate Museum of Trinidad & Tobago with a host of artifacts from the cocoa plantations from over a time period of hundred years. 
This heritage museum Complex is one of its kind which includes a collection of buildings (Cocoa houses, Managers quarters, Barracks, Stables, Cocoa & Coffee Factory space) Stone walls, a wishing Well, and a 105 year old water Cistern. The Museum also has an Archival collection of over 100 books that dates back to the early 1900's about the day to day functions of the estate & a small photo collection. The records housed at the Museum includes names of some of the Indentured laborers, Spanish- Venezuelans, Merikins & creole people who worked on the plantation over the period of the 1900's. 

Chocolatiers from around the country will join us to share.
Culinary delights prepared with the finest cocoa and chocolate from Moruga and other parts.
Heritage and cultural delights made from cocoa and our specialty Moruga Chocolate rum.

Time and proceedings of program for the Opening of Cocoa & Chocolate Museum and cocoa and cocoa and chocolate festival. 

The reception time of officials will be from 10 am.
Starts with a tree planting ceremony 10:30 am which will be assisted by embassies willing to do so.
Diplomatic Tour by ambassadors and embassies Representatives of the natural sites (Pitch pools, Mud volcano, Sulfur Spring) Cocoa Houses, Earthen oven and other historic sites on compound.

Formal ceremony should start at 11.15am 

Opening Prayer to be done by Chief

National Anthem 
Welcome remarks

Addresses may be done by the visiting Ambassador or Embassies in English or their Vernacular. 

Cultural Item (African)

Speech presentation of certificates.

Official opening ceremony of Museum for public Viewing of Artifacts, Historic Building, and Archival records of the estates.

Cocoa and chocolate festival continues: Chocolate tasting, Creole foods (Hill rice, Chocolate cuisines, Honey Heritage and cultural foods) continues to 4pm.


All of the events occurring will be on the same compound of the Rock River, Moruga.

Once nearing the area for the event you will see a yellow sign.
The Site is located on the Rock River Hill, Moruga along the Moruga Main Road, at the Ancient Cocoa houses. 
Moruga is a safe zone and the people are quite friendly, you may ask for the direction of the Top of Rock River Hill if necessary.
