Open Auditions for Pygmalion: The Saga Girl (and other works)

Come AUDITION for our 2013 Mainstage as well as other shows and a short film! All auditions will be recorded and you will have the option to purchase a recording of your audition with feedback from the casting directors.  Auditions will be: JANUARY 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th 10:00am-6:00pm. Sign up for a 15 minute audition slot by: emailing your available times to: [email protected] calling to reserve a spot: 624-8502 or coming into TTW and physically signing up!  All you need to bring is YOURSELF. No experience required to audition.  If you are an experienced actor, we encourage you to come with a 1-3 minute monologue prepared. We will also have sides at the audition, and we will likely ask you to read one. Please come in clothes you feel comfortable in.  These are the FIRST ROUND of auditions. After we have seen everyone, we will POST A SHORTLIST of actors we would like to SEE AGAIN. We will then post dates and times for the CALLBACK AUDITIONS. Pygmalion: or the Saga Girl a new play being written by Alyssa Rostant In November 2013, the Trinidad Theatre Workshop will present Pygmalion POS 2013, a contemporary re-imagination of the classic George Bernard Shaw play spanning the depressed urban landscape of Port of Spain to the privileged surburbs of the North West. The production, which will be the zenith of TTW’s 2013 Theatre Season which will focus on issues of homelessness, language and economies of class. It reinforces TTW’s objective to bring about a a return to fully realized theatrical presentations while engaging with our public in a socially conscientious manner. Pygmalion POS 2013 will also showcase the shifting perspectives and realities of the Port of Spain urbanscape in the context of how language defines and conditions social interaction.  The cast of six actors will be chosen at our open auditions, and will rehearse with us throughout the year, workshopping the new script and developing their characters!  LEAD: female, 20s, a feisty strong girl from town LEAD SUPPORTING: male, late 30s-early 50s, a linguistics professor at UWI LEAD SUPPORTING: male, late 50s-60s, the prosperous owner of a chain of coffee shops SUPPORTING: female, late 50s-70s, mother of the linguist SUPPORTING: male, 40s, father of the lead, something of a piper SUPPORTING: male, 20s, son of the coffee shop owner
