Once On This Island: The Musical

In celebration of 130 years of St. Joseph's Convent San Fernando's existence the Visual and Performing Arts department will be staging a musical production Once on this Island. With its poignant story and catchy Caribbean flavored score, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND is a feast for the heart, mind, and soul. The highly original and theatrical Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale The Little Mermaid garnered eight Tony nominations for its Broadway run, including Best Musical, Book and Score. In almost non- stop song and dance, the show tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. When Daniel is returned to his people, the fantastical gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest to test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death. *DATES* Matinee Shows: Thursday 25th October 2012 9:00am - $50 Friday 26th October 2012 11:00am - $50 Evening Show: Friday 26th October 2012 7:30pm - $130 *PRICES AND TICKET PACKAGES* Specially priced ticket packages are available for schools that are interested in bringing their students to view the musical.
