Louis Andriessen - Workers Union

Details

Hosted by Donemus

Workers Union was originally written for the orchestra De Volharding (Perseverance), in which I myself figured as a pianist at that time.

This piece is a combination of individual freedom and severe discipline: its rhythm is exactly fixed; the pitch, on the other hand, is indicated only approximately, on a single-lined stave.
It is difficult to play in an ensemble and to remain in step, sort of thing like organising and carrying on political action.

As part of APA EXPO week, Ibis Ensemble performs chamber music from the Baroque to the contemporary, demonstrating its eclectic and exciting approach to music-making. APA EXPO itself will open the doors of the Academy to hundreds of visiting school children on Friday November 24 and to the general public on Saturday November 25, 2017. Family-friendly presentations, demonstrations and workshops will highlight all aspects of the APA, including student ensemble performances led by the members of Ibis Ensemble members are doing with their students.
