#Embrace me

Details

On Monday, March 27th, the Rapidfire Kidz Foundation (RKF) and Republic Bank (RBL) held the media launch of their upcoming Walk for kids with disabilities, carded for Sunday, April 30th, in San Fernando. The organizations have partnered with each other in the hope of creating a culture of respect for persons with disabilities. The theme of the Walk is, "Embrace Me".

As a build-up to the Walk, RKF and RBL also sponsored an art competition for kids with disabilities. The prize-giving ceremony also took place at the launch, which was held at Naparima College. Speaking at the event, RKF President Kevin Ratiram expressed his appreciation to the Bank for being part of the project, and stressed the need for all persons to appreciate that whilst persons with disabilities may be different, it didn't mean they were incapable or incompetent. In her greetings, RBL's Manager of Group Corporate Communications, Tisha Lee, pledged her bank's commitment to assisting persons with disabilities, and urged the national community to do the same. San Fernando Mayor Junia Regrello also expressed full support for the Walk, and said he was delighted it was happening in the Southern City.
The art completion was jointly won by Vernisha Lucien of the National Centre for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD), and Tyrell Gill of Keisha Welcome and Associates Intervention Services, who tied for first place. Placing third was Jon-Marc James, of Servol Happy Venture Special School.
