Edwin Ou Hingwan (1932-1976)
The final works, signed, unsigned, and unfinished works found in the artist's studio upon his death in 1976. Opening Saturday 25th March 2017 from 10am to 2pm. Exhibition closes at 2pm on Saturday 1st April 2017. Gallery Hours:
- Tuesday to Friday from noon to 6pm
- Saturday from 10am to 2pm
The well respected, and well collected quadriplegic artist, Edwin Ou Hingwan, born in Mayaro in 1932, died at the age of 44 on 15th February 1976 at Park's Nursing Home.
Upon his death, there were a few paintings left in his studio in Hingwan Drive, Mayaro. These works, the basis of the exhibition, are now being shown, and offered for sale for the first time.
Amongst the works offered are the expected landscapes of Nariva, Mayaro, palms, and the East Coast; and several atypical surprises, some quite abstract works of great movement and beauty.
This is an opportunity for collectors to gain one of his prized works; there are only 16 paintings on offer, priced from $4750. Each work is accompanied by a certificate of provenance.
