Distress Signals is the first poetry showcase of The 2 Cents Movement teaching artist, performance poet, and science fiction and fantasy writer Brandon J. O'Brien.
In this intimate performance showcase, O'Brien digs into his catalogue of spoken word poetry and science fiction and fantasy writing to explore the past, present, and future of the Caribbean, the word, and his own body, asking what we value and what we hear when these stories reach out to us from across the endless space of our fears and hopes.
Following the performance is a conversation with the artist, where he opens up about his journey through poetry, the value of Caribbean science fiction, and more.
Entry: a contribution of $75 to Brandon's efforts to raise funds to travel to the World Science Fiction Convention in Dublin, Ireland!
