Details

'50/25' is a performance devised for the 'Contacting the World' international young people's theatre festival in Manchester, UK. After a successful run at the festival (July 9th-15th), Arts-in-Action's Wordsmiths will present the production that's been described by audiences as: "deeply moving" "really good use of the folk material" "engaging and thought-provoking" Pickney takes a journey through time to discover the truth about himself. He confronts his mother, Old Lady/Sadia, who holds the secrets to his own becoming. His becoming is our own. The performance embraces the themes surrounding Independence (50) and space (DCFA at 25). Through the poetics of Hosay, traditional mas, kalinda, Black Indian Mas, and Indian dance, witness a story about loss, legacy, responsibility and triumph.
