Renamed in 2012 in honour of Olympic Gold Medal Javelin Thrower Keshorn Walcott who hails from the fishing village of Toco, this lighthouse on Galera Point was completed in October of 1867. However, it was officially opened on November 1st 1897 during the 50th anniversary of Queen Victoria's ascent to the British Throne, and an inscription in her honour was placed on the lighthouse "Victoria Reginal Diamond Jubilee 1897."
The seventy feet high lighthouse was originally equipped with a kerosene light shining through a revolving lens with four million candelas but this was replaced with a smaller automatic blinking light in the 1950s. In 1984 an eight-meter long trestle with a brighter beacon light covering a radius of 16 nautical miles and reaching an elevation of 43 meters was erected with a light character of six seconds on and six seconds off.
The surrounding grounds contain restrooms, a park, three carat sheds and picnic area. Visitors can also trek down to the rocks overlooking the sea which gives a breathtaking unobstructed view of the ocean.
